How we operate

Consolidation

  • We partner with local tour operators to create and operate a B2C channel (ie spain.destino.com)
  • We operate through a separate legal entity (ie Destino Spain), which is owned by Destino and by the local tour operator
  • We contribute capital for recapitalizations and/or ownership transitions in exchange for equity positions
  • Destino operates as both a holding and management company. Its core activities are consolidation (M&A, Finance) and growth (IT, Marketing).
  • Pre- and post investment/acquisition we work closely with owners and managers to align our teams and to develop business plans with term goals, within financials frameworks based on operating KPI’s.
  • Our processes are designed to launch a new destination after 4 months.

Target criteria

  • Revenues between $5Mio-$50 Mio

  • Operating in premium segment ($200-$400 daily spend p.p.)

  • Outstanding customer reviews ratings and recognition from press

  • Offering individual and private group, tailor-made tours

  • Destination-wide product coverage, ideally via XML-API’s

  • Full alignment on mission and values

Our ultimate goal is to cover 50+ destinations by 2025

  • Operating in premium segment ($200-$400 daily spend p.p.)
  • A state-of-art digital presence (website, mobile, social)
  • Outstanding customer reviews ratings and recognition from press
  • Offering individual and private group, tailor-made tours
  • A majority B2C operation (incl. retail/ home based agents)
  • An additional source market presence
  • Customer profile (30-65+ years; >$70K annual income; higher education; special interests)

Referral Program

How it works

  • We place ‘listeners’ (cookies, etc…) on websites of our local tour operators to capture consented user and customer data, according to GDPR and related international regulations.
  • We use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create traveler portraits based on this data
  • The AI makes suitable referrals to travelers for local tour operators within our portfolio
  • We activate messaging across 1st party and 3rd party channels, ie website, ppc programs, social media advertising, etc…
  • We reward travelers and our local tour operators for each referral

Source market roll-outs

  • We leverage the experience of each local tour operator in their respective source markets
  • We apply localization (ie translations, payments-, contact methods) to each source market
  • Based on source market performance, we create marketing campaigns for each destination within our portfolio
  • All sales and fulfillment is handled by each individual local tour operator
